Shouldn’t finding radio stations online be easier? Based on the Adobe AIR runtime, Antenna tries to alleviate that. Using a vast list of stations combined with a map interface, you can discover, listen to, and switch between thousands of stations effortlessly. Search is possible by country or genre, or just by clicking on a location on the map. Beyond that you have a history of recently-listened stations and can even rate the ones you like and return to them easily later.
To install, first grab Adobe AIR, then download the Antenna installer file. If you still have issues installing, let me know in the comments.

Thanks for this application. It seems to do what it advertises. My only niggle (if that’s possible) is that once you’ve selected a station, the zoom level goes back to the default zoom level, instead of staying locked where you had it to select the station.
Other than that, I rather like the application. I wish I could add arbitrary stations too.

Great app! Two suggestions:
1) When the top list is sorted by Genre, the bottom list’s 2nd column should be something other than Genre (since it’ll be the same for every row). In that case, how about changing that column to Country?

Also, would be really nice if you could have the applicatiion use your default audio application (if you wish it to of course).

I just have to notice, that if i try to record stream, it’s doesn’t save mp3-file. The problem is in Russian Windows OS. We have “My Documents” folder in cyrillic. Please, be adviced to add “change basic stream folder” option into setting or just integrate cyrillic.

It seems that when I try to record audio using the record-button, Antenna tries to store the file on a file location starting with a back-slash (like /C:/Users/Username/Documents/Antenna Radio Streams/Radio Norge 103.9 /Stream_20100304_1267684700304.mp3
Is there some way I can reconfigure Antenna to avoid this problem?

Why shackle yourself to the Adobe fiefdom with the Air platform? I think a portable app that could be run off a USB stick would be a much better choice and allow a much wider customer base to enjoy your program. I don’t get why developers insist on alienating their customers like this.

Will not install get error message:
“Sorry, an error has occurred.
The application could not be installed because the AIR file is damaged. Try obtaining a new AIR file from the application author.”
Have uninstalled AIR rebooted PC and reinstalled AIR 3 or 4 times without success.
AIR installs with no problem but ANTENNA install fails.
Using Toshiba Satellite L35 series laptop with Windows XP Media Center Edition Version 2002, SP3. Intel Celeron 410@1.46GHZ and 2 GB ram

Seemed like a lot of dead channels and a very small amount in the United States. I can think of atleast 5 streaming websites in my area and only one is listed.
That said, I really like the interface. A lot nicer than most streaming websites with just a list to choose from.

You are sorting the bit rates wrong in your app, you are sorting them in dictionary mode, instead of numerical mode. Change them from strings to integers and you should be fine.
Dictionary Mode:

This is an absolutely excellent application – Allowing us to see the virtual stations being broadcast from actual locations is a stroke of genius.
I would suggest a few tweaks to the interface (which is very polished), specifically with regards to using smaller screens (as alot of laptops/netbooks do)
1) Offer Minimisation of Component Windows
The window which allows for searching by Country/Genre/etc. takes up alot of space for something which is not always being used. (I get the feeling that the map, as the largest component, is the one which is the main focal point).
Whether minimising the window to a smaller version (and allowing more of the map to be seen) or maybe changing it to a slide-down element anchored under the top bar (so it can show pertinent information as standard, and allow the user to slide it down for more content) would be an idea. Personally, I like the later of the two.
Further on that idea, actually, integrating the player into same would be great. So the top-bar would include the player and the list of stations in the selected location, but could be expanded to allow for filtering or for selection of a location from the menus therein.
Happy to discuss these ideas via email, as I realise I may not be being too clear here.

Can you please detail the system requirements? I’ve getting this error message when trying to record: “There was an error writing recording to disk. Unfortunatley, it appears that AIR 1.5 does not support writing this station’s stream on your operating system.”.
The directory to put the files in is created, but there’s no file in it.

I thought Antenna is availlable for 64bit but in taskmanager I only see a *32 process. The memory consumption is above 100MB and svchost doubles this. Is there a way to get a real 64bit process and less memory consumption?

one of the best app i’ve ever used.
but still some problems:
1. i cannot open the mp3 file which saved under my “documents” folder, after i clicked the red “recording” button. (i’m using mac osx 10.6.4)
2. no “add to favorite” function.
3. i dunno how to empty the “recent” list.
4. cannot delete the rated radiostations, and still can’t change its name or descriptions.

I am very suprised about Antenna. It works fine on my WeTab. But I have a Suggestion for the next Version (pleas:
I am using a Touch Tablet with 11,6“ Display and a resolution of 1366 x 768 and some elements are a little bit to small.
Is it possible to enlarge some elemets for a better navigation? e.g: Scroll Bar, Station list and the rating Stars.
Please contact me if you need a Slave for testing

Can’t seem to install Antenna on my Windows XL system. Air installs OK, but get error message after trying to install Antenna. Others on website seem to have same problem. Is there a solution? If I just [Save] the file (instead of [Open]) I seem to get a proper file “Antenna_v1.4.zip” OK, but I don’t know how to install after that.

Installed in Linux Ubuntu 10.10. The image “downloader” did not work (AIR error message said installer was damaged.) However, manual download link worked perfectly and Antenna is working perfectly.

I could install adobe air, but cannot install antenna… even if i try it manually… installation doesn’t start when i click on the install file… my os is vista
What should I do now?

Neither of the .zip files on this site work: “installer file is damaged.”
If you want this program, use the link from the comment posted April 8th, 2010 by “Christina, marketing executive at Softonic.com”. Antenna 1.4.1 had been their “editor’s choice” in 2010, and you can still get an .EXE installation file from their site:

That file worked for me without a glitch. After installing Antenna 1.4.1 you’ll get a message asking if you’d like to upgrade to 1.4.4: “now” or “after your computer restarts”.
I’ve decided to wait and see if 1.4.1 works first. It does. I just wish I had not wasted so much time trying to use the .TMP(?) “installer” file that comes in the ZIP package. My advice: Forget the zip’s and get the .exe from Softonic! You’ll have Antenna installed in a couple minutes and the program itself is not bad.

I’ve downloaded the Antenna installer file but there’s no setup file inside the zip. Beside, during the unzip appears the following error: “Warning: skipping “META-INF\AIR\hash”. The 32-bit CRC stored in the local header for this file is not the sam as 32-bit CRC stored in central”. Please, helm me

Estimado amigo.
Anteriormente te he consultado sobre la posibilidad de poder grabar “streaming music”.Actualmente no es posible hacerlo porque siempre aparece un mensaje indicando esa imposibilidad.Te paso un dato que quiza ayude a solucionar este inconveniente.Programas similares con el Radio Sure y Nexus Radio permiten perfectamente la grabacion sin ningun problema.Te sugiero que lo investigues porque en calidad de reproduccion ninguno te supera.

I updated to Adobe Air 3.0 and now Antenna is locked at “Gathering station list…”
Does anyone have a solution for software that obviously has NEVER BEEN SUPPORTED since its inception? I thought now.

Antenna, my favorite source of audio entertainment on my PC, has been broken by Air3.
It won’t get passed the “Gathering Stations Lists…” screen. I could kicked my self because it crossed my mind that there was a chance that there could be an incompatiblility risk, yet, clicked the update button anyway.
Can you please update a fix for the community. Am using the latest version (2010, v1.4.4).

I’m using Win7 64 bit.
If you’ve already updated Adobe Air to v3.0 and you’re finding that Antenna no longer works (as I did), here’s a link to older versions of Adobe Air.
I removed v3.0 and downloaded v2.7.1 and installed it. Antenna 1.4.4 now works as it should.

After the latest adobe air update to[3.0.0.4080] antenna has stopped working!?! Is opens and stays stuck at gathering station list no other movement,my operating system is win7 64bit,i have had antenna from xp 64bit for years I like this product is there a fix for this(uninstalling and getting the lastest air release,stopping the anti-virus has not helped,what gives,can you help!?!

After updating the Adobe AIR application is no longer functioning the Antenna. Reinstalling the applications has not brought benefits. What you will advise?
