Compared to many other films, this one was neither overbudgeted nor a bad one. Unlike the book, it has much to say about organised religion and the illusion of Paradise. I don't think I've ever liked bad films and I liked The Beach -very much so. There's just so much more beyond the surface, just like at Phi Phi Leh:)
